12 Best Places To Go Glamping In Central California
As a California local, I’m always on the lookout for relaxing spots to get out in nature. Thankfully, there are so many incredible locations to go glamping in California year-round!
In this post, I share some of the best spots to go glamping in Central California. I cover yurts, canvas tents, airstreams, tiny cabins, and other accommodations that are a step above traditional tent camping.
From modern mountain getaways to beachfront campgrounds and pet-friendly stays, this list covers something for everyone!

1. AutoCamp Yosemite
AutoCamp Yosemite offers an elevated glamping experience near Yosemite National Park. This gorgeous property is located along Highway 140, about an hour’s drive from Yosemite Valley.
AutoCamp Yosemite combines the best of a boutique stay and a peaceful nature escape. There are a variety of accommodations to choose from, including luxurious airstreams, cabins, and adventure tents.
Start the day off right with complimentary granola, coffee, and tea in the mornings. The Kitchen eatery also serves breakfast items like burritos, sandwiches, toast, and egg scramble to fuel you up for the day’s adventures ahead. After exploring Yosemite all day, enjoy a Happy Hour from 4-6 pm with craft cocktails like Al Pastor Margarita and Black Maple Old Fashioned.
The property features amazing facilities, including a year-round swimming pool that is heated in the winter months. There is also a mini market along with a clubhouse, outdoor fire pits, complimentary bikes, and electric vehicle charging stations. They really have thought of everything!
AutoCamp allows up to 2 dogs with an additional fee of $75, so your whole family can come along for a fun mountain adventure.
2. Sierra Meadows
Sierra Meadows is another excellent place to stay in nature while visiting Yosemite National Park. This property is located just a 40-minute drive from Yosemite’s south entrance, where you can hike amongst towering sequoia trees.
Sprawling across 1300 acres of land, Sierra Meadows offers a variety of accommodations including micro cabins, tiny cabins, one or two-bedroom cabins, family cabins, and more. Each room comes with a tea and coffee maker, refrigerator, cards, books, and games to keep everyone in your party entertained.
This glamping resort is very dog-friendly and allows dogs at no additional fee. During your stay, you and your four-legged friends can go for a hike in beautiful meadows right outside the property.
The resort offers complimentary bikes so you can explore the surrounding area. There is a seasonal pool on site, along with a hot tub where you can relax at the end of the day in the summer.
3. El Capitan Canyon
El Capitan Canyon is a great place to get out in nature in Santa Barbara. Located in a peaceful setting near the coast, this charming property offers cozy cedar cabins, adventure yurts, and lots of excellent amenities to make your visit as comfortable as possible.
During your stay, you can head down to El Capitán State Beach, go hiking along private trails, swim in the heated outdoor pool, visit the llama and goat farm, or take complimentary beach cruisers for a spin.
The cabins come with bathrooms and kitchenettes, while the yurts have restrooms nearby. There are fire pits in front of the cabins and yurts where you can make BBQ or roast marshmallows around a cozy fire pit in the evening.
If you don’t want to cook any meals yourself, no worries! The property offers breakfast for a $20 fee. There is also Canyon Market and Deli on site, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Overall, this is a wonderful location for a family vacation with kids. Do note that this property does not allow dogs.
4. Ojai Caravan Outpost
Ojai is a charming little town just a 20-minute drive north of Ventura. I love to visit Ojai for quick weekend getaways to do a bit of hiking, wine tasting, take a pottery workshop, and enjoy delicious food at one of the local restaurants.
Caravan Outpost is a luxury campground in downtown Ojai that features 11 upgraded Airstream trailers. The caravans are located on a beautiful property surrounded by lush trees and plants, offering plenty of privacy from other campers. There are lots of outdoor seating areas where you can relax with a book (or a wine glass) in hand.
Each caravan comes with its own private bathroom and shower. The campers have fully functional kitchens, but they do not include cooking or eating supplies, so you will need to bring those along.
The campground is located just a short walk from downtown Ojai restaurants, bars, and shops. You can also grab complimentary bikes to explore the area.
5. Big Sur Campground And Cabins
If you’re planning a Big Sur road trip, Big Sur Campground and Cabins is one of the best places to stay in this region!
Situated along the Big Sur River off Highway 1, this campground is geared towards family vacations. Established in 1953, Big Sur Campground and Cabins is set on an 11-acre property surrounded by majestic redwood trees.
At this campground, you can choose between tent camping, RV camping, or book a cabin that comes with everything you may need for a comfortable getaway. There are a variety of cabins to choose from, some that come with kitchens and fireplaces.
During your stay, you can go for a swim in the river, rent inner tubes, make s’mores by fire, or head down to the nearby Pfeiffer Beach.
Note that while pets are allowed at the campground with a fee of $5 per night, they are not allowed to stay in the cabins.

6. Flying Flags Avila Beach
Flying Flags Avila Beach is my favorite place to stay when visiting Avila Beach on the Central California Coast. This beachfront property offers a variety of accommodations, including cottages, glamping tents, RV sites, and tent campsites.
We usually stay in their one-bedroom bungalow that comes with a fire pit, private patio, bathroom, and coffee-making supplies. The property does allow pets, and there is even a pet washing station that you can use after visiting the nearby beaches.
The location is one of the biggest bonuses of staying at this resort! The accommodations offer excellent views of the Pacific Ocean, and you’ll be just a short walk from the local beaches and the Harford Pier.
Within a short drive from the resort, you can also visit Smugglers Cave and hike the Ontario Ridge To Shell Beach Bluff Trail.

7. Waypoint Ventura
Waypoint Ventura offers a relaxing stay in luxurious vintage trailers near the beach. These beautifully restored campers come with coffee-making supplies, sinks, microwaves, and fridges to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
During your stay, you can unwind and soak up the coastal ambiance on your private deck or socialize and barbecue in the communal areas. There are also lawn games for entertainment, s’mores kits, hot tea, and cider that you can enjoy around the fireplace in the evenings.
During the day, grab the complimentary bikes to explore the nearby attractions. Within a short bike ride, you can reach Ventura Pier, the Promenade, downtown Ventura, local breweries, and restaurants.
Select trailers are pet-friendly and allow small dogs under 35 lbs.

8. Wildhaven Sonoma Glamping
Located near Healdsburg, Wildhaven Sonoma Glamping is an excellent place to stay for wine lovers! This is the perfect spot to plan romantic getaways, but the property offers family accommodations as well.
The campground is set on a 10-acre property next to the Russian River with private beach access. You can stay in spacious, modern cabins or safari-style glamping tents that come with heated mattresses and heaters.
Here you can relax in a quaint setting surrounded by nature, go tubing in the Russian River, go hiking, biking, or just relax with a glass of wine in hand.
There is a mini market on site where you can buy wine, picnic items, or s’mores kits. If you feel like venturing out of the property, book this Healdsburg Wine and Food Pairing Guided Walking Tour that will take you wine tasting in the charming downtown Healdsburg.

9. Curry Village In Yosemite National Park
Curry Village is one of my favorite places to stay when visiting Yosemite National Park. The location doesn’t get better than this! Situated at the center of Yosemite Valley, Curry Village offers easy access to all the top Yosemite attractions like Yosemite Falls, Mirror Lake, Tunnel View, Mist Trail, and so much more.
Curry Village has heated and unheated canvas tent cabins that can accommodate 2-5 people. In the spring and fall, I highly recommend booking a heated tent if possible. The temperatures get very cold in Yosemite at night during the off-season, and it’s well worth getting the heater to stay extra warm.
The canvas tent cabins are pretty simple and come with sleeping basics like beds, sheets, pillows, and light blankets. Hot showers and restrooms are located just a short walk from the tent cabins.
Keep in mind that food and drinks are not allowed inside the tent cabins and must be stored in the bear lockers outside. There is some food available at Curry Village, including a pizza parlor and a food court.
The Curry Village accommodations do not allow pets (except for service animals).

10. Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground Buellton
Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground Buellton is a great place to camp for couples and families at the center of the Santa Ynez wine country.
The campground offers a variety of accommodations, including luxurious cabins, cottages, glamping tents, jupe tents, vintage trailers, and RV sites with full hookups. The cabins come with fully equipped kitchens if you prefer to make your own meals.
During your stay, you can soak up the sun at the onsite pools, cabanas, or play a game of bocce ball. When hunger strikes, head to the on-site restaurant Feather & Fire, which serves brick oven pizzas, rotisserie chicken meals, and sandwiches.
Nearby, there are so many fun things to do! You can spend the day exploring Solvang Danish town, do a bit of wine tasting, see emus and ostriches at Ostrichland USA, go horseback riding, hiking, and so much more.
Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground is dog-friendly with a pet fee of $50. And there’s even a dog park on the premises!

11. AutoCamp Russian River
Tucked away in a lush redwood forest, AutoCamp Russian River offers a relaxing nature getaway in Guerneville near Santa Rosa.
AutoCamp Russian River features luxurious air streams, cabins, adventure tents, and retro campers to accommodate a variety of group sizes and needs. The Redwood Suite comes with an outdoor wood-fired hot tub so you can soak in a private tub surrounded by towering redwood trees.
Morning yoga, live music, hiking, biking, and complimentary wine tasting are some of the most popular activities to do while staying at this property.
In the morning,s enjoy complimentary granola before heading out to explore the area for the day. In the evenings, cozy up around the outdoor fire pits with a glass of wine in hand or satisfy your sweet tooth with some s’mores.
Up to 2 dogs are welcome with a fee of $75. Note that not all accommodations allow dogs. The luxury tents allow dogs, but not the Accessible Suites or Happier Camper.

12. Wildhaven Yosemite Glamping
Wildhaven Yosemite Glamping is the perfect base camp for visiting Yosemite National Park! This property is located just a 50-minute drive from Yosemite’s Arch Rock Entrance off Highway 140.
In the summer months, you can enjoy on-site live music, yoga classes, and wine tasting. Nearby, you can also visit the charming Mariposa town, go fishing at Bass Lake, or head for a hike at Stockton Creek Preserve.
Wildhaven Yosemite Glamping features modern cabins and heated canvas tents that can accommodate up to 4 adults. The cabins come with spacious patios, fire pits, and outdoor seating to enjoy the surrounding mountain views.
